Blooming Butterflies

Edventure Children's Museum had a Blooming Butterfly exhibit that I had been wanting to take Emma to. She is really into butterflies. It was a neat exhibit and had some beautiful butterflies. Elmo and Grover made an appearance while we were there. Emma wanted to stay as far away from them as possible so we went grocery shopping in Edventure's Piggly Wiggly. She loved filling up her cart and pushing it around the store.

Daytona 2009

Michael, Emma, Bebe (Michael's grandmother, Betty), and I headed to Daytona on a Thursday evening. My thinking was Miss Priss would fall happily asleep around 8:00, and we would have a quiet trip. Well she had other plans. She was still going strong around 10. She was having the best time with Betty. At one point Betty tried to ignore her so she would fall asleep. Emma was not happy about that. She kept tapping her on the arm saying Bebe, Bebe!! We made it safely to Daytona, but we were all tired the next day.

Emma and Nana looking for fish. The majority of our trip was spent at the pool. Emma did not like the beach this year. She eventually warmed up towards the end of the trip. I don't think she liked the waves.

Emma would let Michael hold her and they would jump the waves, but she DID NOT want us to put her down.

Michael, Bebe, and Emma
Emma loves her Bebe. I am so thankful she was able to spend the week with her. They are definitely good buddies.

"Talking" to Gigi
Emma has not figured out that she is supposed to talk to the other person on the line so she just listens. She listened to my mom for the longest time. She eventually handed me the phone back when my mom told her to give me the phone.

One evening we decided to head down to the beach. We put Emma down and she took off running. She loved the beach. We did this several nights, and each time she would take off. I don't know if it was because it was cooler or because there was more beach.

A nice gentleman was flying a kite for his grandkids. Emma was fascinated with the kite.

Of course she would warm up to the beach on the last day of our trip! Oh well! Maybe next year.

"What's that?" - Her favorite thing to say now!!
I was sad to see our trip come to an end. We had a nice, relaxing time in Daytona. We ate out every night but two nights. The weather was perfect - no hurricanes!!! We would spend our mornings on the beach, head up to the condo for lunch and Emma's nap! While Emma napped, Michael did his P90X and I scrapbooked!! It was definitely hard coming home.

The Gaylord Texan

Michael and I headed out to Grapevine, Texas August 8-11 for work. We are a vendor partner for the Ideacom Association (meaning we offer health insurance to members of the Ideacom Association). We also used the trip as an anniversary get away. Our 5 year anniversary was on August 7!! Can't believe we have been married 5 years.

Michael brought home this pretty bouquet and a dozen rosesfor me for our anniversary!!

We went for a hike around Lake Grapevine. It was a beautiful lake. The building in the distance is our hotel. We stayed at the Gaylord Texan Hotel. Very interesting hotel!

Michael inside the hotel!

On Sunday, we went to the location where JFK was assainated. We walked through the 6th floor museum which is in the Texas School Book Depository (it is no longer that today). Very informative!!

Behind Michael is the general location where JFK was shot.

Eating her snack before she went swimming. I think she likes the snack part of going to the pool more then the swimming.

Lake Wateree with The Wansley's

We met up with the Wansley's again in July at Lake Wateree. It also happened to be Laura's 30th b-day weekend. The girls played outside pretty much the whole time.

Libby was responsible for decorating the cake. She really got into dipping the candles into the cake and licking the icing off.

The finished product. Libby was quite proud.
